Cold Lake First Nations held its grand opening of the back council chambers with a film premiere and screening last Friday.

Nation members were welcomed to the chambers with the first showing of Three Circles, which began as a mini-documentary on the Denesuline of Luechogh Tue covering the past, present, and future of the people of Cold Lake First Nations.

The project had began as an in-house orientation video for people going out to the Cold Lake Air Weapons Range, to recognize the historical ties to that region, and the hunting, fishing and other activities on these traditional lands.

After that was shown, Guitar Lessons, an indie film shot in High Level, was played for those in attendance.

The film stars country music star Corb Lund and Indigenous comedic actor Conway Kootenay in a story about about a 50-year-old and 15-year-old that bond over music and their guitar lessons.

The writer and director Aaron James along with Kootenay was there for a Q&A after the credits rolled.

There were door prizes with signed posters and a guitar as well.
