JV Smash tournament sees Lakeland teams hit the court

Bonnyville high schools hosted local junior varsity volleyball teams for their first tournament of the year last weekend.

Notre Dame and BCHS hosted the JV Smash tourney, with seven girls teams — Notre Dame JV Grade 9, Notre Dame JV Grade 10, BCHS, Assumption, Cold Lake High School, JAWS and St. Paul Regional — and the boys draw with four teams, Notre Dame, Assumption, JAWS, and Lloydminster Comp.

St. Paul Regional Saints girls won the gold medal after a three-set thriller against the Notre Dame Wildcats Grade 10s. The Grade 9 Wildcats were victorious in straight sets to beat JAWS.

The Lloyd Comp Barons boys gutted out a gold medal victory over JAWS, while Notre Dame took home bronze.
