UPDATE
The RCMP has lifted the hold and secure at Duclos School. Students will be dismissed as per the school’s normal procedures.
Northern Lights Public Schools sent out an email confirming the lift, “We would like to thank the RCMP for their prompt communication and efforts to keep our students safe while they were dealing with a situation nearby.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.”
BACKGROUND:
Bonnyville RCMP have requested that Duclos School be put in a hold in secure while they deal with an incident in the area that is not related to the school.
Parents received a message from Northern Lights Public Schools late Thursday afternoon stating that until further notice no one will be able to enter or leave the school.
“Until the school is advised otherwise by the RCMP, we will not be allowing anyone to enter or exit our building. If you were planning to come and pick up your child, please wait until we have notified you that the hold and secure has been lifted.”
No details have been given on the incident that RCMP are dealing with or how long the hold and secure will last.
“We will provide further updates to parents and guardians when we have more information to share about whether or not this will affect our normal dismissal time and when/if the hold and secure is lifted.”
