Girls volleyball teams rack up hardware at Mega Volley
Lakeland area high school volleyball teams swept hardware at a major tournament this past weekend.
Mega Volley, hosted at Vermilion’s J.R. Robson High School, saw 32 teams from across the province compete and the École Notre Dame girls continued their success from last season with a perfect effort.
They went 9-0 without dropping a set to capture gold at the tournament, defeating École Plamondon in the championship game. Then for bronze, the École des Beaux Lacs girls defeated Parkland Immanuel from Edmonton to win hardware as well.
The Lakeland teams went 1-2-3 at the first tournament of the year, which could be the start of a very competitive season for local teams.
Meanwhile, the École Notre Dame boys also took home gold at the Icebreaker tournament in Lamont.
