Former Yaks MVP McMann signed by Toronto Maple Leafs

A former Bonnyville Pontiac might be making the show one day.

Bobby McMann, who played 152 games with the Pontiacs from 2013 to 2016, signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday.

The Wainwright, Alberta native has played the past two seasons in the AHL and ECHL and is coming off the heels of breaking a Toronto Marlies franchise record of most goals in a rookie season with 24.

McMann played four seasons at Colgate University after leaving Bonnyville and was the team’s captain in his senior year.

He was a productive player for the Pontiacs, scoring 68 goals and 61 assists, totalling 129 points during his AJHL career. In his final season in 2015-16, McMann lead the Yaks in scoring and became just one of three Pontiacs in franchise history to win AJHL Most Valuable Player.

McMann was a valuable piece on the 2014-15 squad that made the AJHL North Final.

The Bonnyville Pontiacs are excited to see another alum advance through the hockey ranks all the way to pro and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours.
