Two water breaks in the Hamlet of Lac La Biche affecting 68 homes

There are currently two water breaks in the Hamlet of Lac La Biche which are affecting 68 homes.

“The water has been off since yesterday evening, and 68 homes in total were affected. They were notified by door-knockers late yesterday evening,” Jihad Moghrabi Manager of Communications for Lac La Biche County said. “Water services are being restored as we speak, and we ask residents to run cold water taps if they notice discolouration. As always, the discolouration is temporary, and the water is still safe to use and drink.”

One of the water main breaks is on 94 Avenue, just East of 102 Street (East of the mosque). The other is on 102 Street just South of 94 Avenue (again, East of the mosque).

Staff is currently conducting repairs, and Highway 36 (94 Avenue) will be closed to traffic once equipment begins working between 99 Avenue and 100 Street (Where Highway 36 turns South). A detour will be set up. Please use caution in the area, and obey all signage.

“The road in the affected area will still be closed for a few more hours to allow our crews time to backfill the excavated area and clean up,” Moghrabi said. “Thank you for your patience and understanding while we complete this important work.”

Here are details on the map below.

  • The red stars show where the breaks are located.
  • The red lines are the houses without water.
  • The orange line shows the traffic detour route.
