Incident at BCHS puts students into a hold and secure
A incident at Bonnyville Centralized High School (BCHS) this morning sent the school into a hold and secure lockdown.
“There was in incident at BCHS that required RCMP intervention this morning,” Nicole Garner Communications Officer at Northern Lights Public Schools told Lakeland Connect. “Just prior to school starting, school administration learned of a threat that had been made on social media involving the school.”
It is unclear at this time what the threat was or who it was made by.
Garner says the school was put into a hold and secure and as students arrived at school they were directed to one of two safe spaces at the school.
“This allowed RCMP and school administration to investigate and deal with the situation,” Garner said. “Once it was determined that there was no longer a threat to the safety of students and staff, everyone was allowed to re-enter the school and classes resumed as scheduled.”
Lakeland Connect reached out to the Alberta RCMP for more information about the incident, we are waiting to hear back.
