County Firefighters kept busy over the weekend

County of Vermilion Firefighters had a busy weekend.

On Friday, March 4, tones at 3:55 p.m., for a report of a transport truck semi involved in a collision with a Jeep. No injuries were reported and crews worked to stabilize the scene and provide traffic control.
Less than two hours later, Paradise Valley Fire were paged out for a medical call in the north part of their response district. Firefighters provided medical aid until the arrival of EMS.
Later that evening a motor vehicle collision occurred near Kitscoty.
“At 7:05 p.m., the Kitscoty Fire Department were notified of a two vehicle collision with injuries,” Director of Protective Services in the County of Vermilion River Kirk Hughes said. “Firefighters responded and provided medical care, traffic management and scene stabilization.”
Sunday morning, on March 6, saw Blackfoot Fire and Rescue alerted to residential alarm bells ringing.
“A first alarm assignment was dispatched, but thankfully it was a false alarm,” Hughes said.
Also on Sunday, there was a vehicle fire on Highway 16.
“The Vermilion Fire and Rescue Society were toned out to a reported trailer fire on Highway #16,” Hughes said. “Firefighters attended the scene and located smoke near the brakes. Crews applied water and cooled the area to prevent any fire.”
No major damage was reported.
“On the weekend, County Firefighters were active and engaged in a variety of calls for service,” Hughes said. “No doubt, March is coming in like a Lion! Slippery road and white-out conditions made travel hazardous and contributed to some unfortunate accidents that resulted in property damage but no serious injuries”.
