Lac La Biche RCMP arrest male in relation to stolen vehicle
On March 3, at approximately 12:30 p.m., the Lac La Biche RCMP received a report of uttering threats in Beaver Lake Cree Nation.
The suspect had fled the area in a vehicle before police arrived.
The Lac La Biche RCMP were able to locate the suspect male at a property in Bonesville. The subject fled into the residence and would not comply with police demands to come out.
A warrant to enter the residence was obtained. Lac La Biche RCMP and Alberta RCMP Police Dog Services executed the warrant and the male suspect was arrested for warrants and several new charges.
Further investigation resulted in seizure of a vehicle the vehicle the suspect arrived to the residence in. The vehicle had been reported as stolen out of Eaglesham the day before.
Peter Hamelin, 37, of Edmonton is facing five new charges including;
- Possession of property obtained by Crime x2
- Operation motor vehicle while Prohibited x2
- Obstruction of a Peace Officer
Hamelin was held for a judicial hearing and was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in Lac La Biche Provincial Court on March 14, 2022.
As these matters are now before the courts, no further details can be provided.
