Bobcats U18 & U16AAA clubs playing in Bonnyville on Sunday
Some Lakeland area hockey players will get the chance to play close to home this Sunday back on the RJ Lalonde Arena.
First, the Lloydminster Inland Steel Bobcats U18AAA club will be taking on the Leduc Wilhauk Jerky Oil Kings at 12:45pm. The U18s feature Bonnyville products Ben Skarsen, Will Porter, Dylan Hebert, Brent Hoshowski, and Ashton Cumby.
Other extended area players on the team include Dannon Pavka from Marwayne and Teague McAllister from Kitscoty.
The Inland Steel Bobcats have a record of 12-18-3 which is tied with Sherwood Park for 5th in the AEHL’s North Division standings.
Hoshowski and Skarsen have been affiliates with the Bonnyville Jr. A Pontiacs at times this season, while Will Porter has suited up for the Olds Grizzlys for two games as well.
Ashton Cumby got experience in the Western Hockey League earlier this year with the Winnipeg Ice joining them on a roadtrip for two games.
Hoshowski is third in team scoring with 9 goals and 14 assists, Porter has 8 goals and 9 assists, and Skarsen has 2 goals and 10 assists this season. On the backend, Hebert is the team’s leading defensive pointman with 5 goals and 12 assists, while Cumby has 5 goals and 7 assists as well.
The action continues right after the tilt against Leduc finishes.
The Lloydminster R’ohan Bobcats U16AAA will be taking on the Fort Saskatchewan TC Infrastructure Rangers on Sunday afternoon at 3:30pm.
Ethan Amyotte, Carter Goreniuk, Xavier Sylvestre, Jayce Lessard from Bonnyville and Malcolm Dechaine from St. Paul with Cash Capjack from Elk Point will be playing a little closer to home in this contest. Josh Beaudette from Vermilion also plays on the squad.
They sit middle of the pack in the North Division standings with a 10-16-1 record, good enough for 6th place, and just one point behind Leduc.
