A 35-year-old male from Bonnyville who recently attacked someone with bear spray has now attacked another person with a hammer after he was released from the first incident by the Justice of the Peace.
On January 23 during the noon hour, the Bonnyville RCMP were dispatched to a residence on the West end of town in the 4900 block of 66 Street for a disturbance.
Staff Sgt. Sarah Parke is the Detachment Commander for the Bonnyville RCMP.
“Further investigation determined that a 35-year-old male from Bonnyville had threatened another male with a hammer,” Staff Sgt. Parke told Lakeland Connect in her weekly update to media. “Members located and arrested the male and charged him with Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Uttering Threats and two counts of Failing to comply with a Release Condition.”
He has been remanded in custody until his court appearance on February 15.
“It should be noted that this is the same male who attacked a male with bear spray the previous week and was released by a Justice of the Peace,” Staff Sgt. Parke said. “As per last week’s release.”
