A former Cold Lake minor hockey player will be moving to the Junior A level next season.

Lexton Grey, a 2004-born defenceman, has signed a letter of intent to join the Drayton Valley Thunder next season.

He is currently playing for the International Hockey Academy U18 Prep based in Chestermere, Alberta.

“I am pleased and honoured to join the Drayton Valley Thunder,” said Grey in a press release on Wednesday. “Having been at camp last year and had the opportunity to practice periodically this season, I know that they have a tremendous core of talented young players and outstanding coaches dedicated to building a championship team and who know how to get young guys like me to the next level. I am very grateful for this opportunity and plan to do everything I possibly can to show them that they made the right decision by signing me.” he said.

In 23 games for the club, Grey has 1 assist, but is known for his defensive side of the game.

The Drayton Valley Thunder are currently 4th in the AJHL North.
