Shoppa-Paw-Looza online auction will support Lakeland Humane Society

The annual online auction “Shoppa-Paw-Looza” kicks off on November 24 to support the Lakeland Humane Society (LHS).

Shelter manager Nicole Mbanefo of the Lakeland Humane Society says Shoppa-paw-looza is their biggest online auction of the year.

“We take donations of gift items, certificates, from people or businesses and put them up for auction to raise money for the animals in our care,” Mbanefo said. “The money raised goes towards food, shelter, medicines, surgeries and other countless things the animals rely on us for.”

The Lakeland Humane Society say 2021 has been a different year for the organization, which has been full of exciting new developments, expansions, and renovations.

“Unfortunately, COVID-19 is still affecting our ability to host events and fundraise in person, which really puts a limit on incoming revenue that we heavily depend on to the care for the animals,” the LHS stated. “This year’s auction is even more important than ever with all the new costs and projects on top the usual operational costs we incur. Fundraisers, such as the online auction, ensure that we can not only turn the lights on every morning but also take in these homeless animals and make a difference in their life.”

The LHS says, “Thank you for choosing to be a voice for the animals and supporting us with your contributions and purchases. This community has always stepped up and supported us through so much and because of your support we are able to take the next step in creating a facility the homeless animals deserve.”
