One person is dead following an all terrain vehicle (ATV) accident on Highway 855.

According to police, “On Sept. 11, shortly before 1:30 p.m., the Boyle RCMP responded to a report of a collision on Highway 855, on the Buffalo Lake Metis Settlement, involving an overturned all terrain vehicle (ATV).”

The Boyle RCMP, Buffalo Lake Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services and motorists with first aid knowledge assisted.

Police say, preliminary investigation reveals the lone male driver of the ATV, reportedly heading north on Highway 855, appeared to have lost control and was subsequently ejected when the ATV overturned.

Medical treatment was provided on scene, however, the 45-year-old driver, of Buffalo Lake Metis Settlement, succumbed to the serious injuries and was declared deceased on scene.

The Boyle RCMP investigation is on-going. Police have been in contact with next of kin.

 No further updates are anticipated.
