Scott MacDonald was a Bonnyville Voyageur alumnus, who was diagnosed with cancer shortly after graduation and lost his battle with Cancer on July 11, 2010, at the age of 19.
The season following Scott’s death, a teammate, Tyler Jahn, asked if something could be done to honour Scott. What started as a simple request turned into the Voyageurs first night game under the lights and raising money to donate to the Stollery in hopes of helping children with cancer.
The Scott Macdonald Memorial Tournament is now a full day event, including four football games, half-time, head shave fundraisers, and a silent auction.
Money raised during the tournament has been donated to the Stollery Children’s hospital, Haying in the 30s, the Bonnyville Hospital, and numerous warriors fighting their own battles with Cancer. Donations have also been made annually to the Scott MacDonald Memorial Scholarship fund, which awards scholarships to graduating Voyageurs.
Here is the schedule of games for September 18.

The 12th annual Scott MacDonald Memorial Tournament will take place on Saturday, September 18, at the Walsh Field Ray Scott Athletic Park in Bonnyville.
