A sparking electrical transformer started a small grass fire recently across from the Kitscoty Golf Course which was extinguished by a Peace Officer.
Kitscoty Fire Department responded to the call for help on September 7 at 2:01 p.m.
A patrolling Peace Officer was in the right place at the right time. Sgt. Feist, noted the smoke and fire and attended the scene.
“Each Peace Officer is equipped with a water pump pack, and yesterday it was put to good use,” County Fire Chief Kirk Hughes said. “The fire was contained to the area around the pole, the utility company was notified and traffic was rerouted as a safety precaution.”
Kitscoty Fire reported being back in service at 3:13 p.m. after the call.
“It is unknown if the transformer was an Autobot or Decepticon,” Chief Hughes concluded.
