Kitscoty Fire Department respond to suspicious truck fire

The Kitscoty Fire Department was kept busy on Friday night after they were alerted to an orange glow at an oil battery.

When crews arrived they discovered a truck that was fully engulfed in flames but made quick work of the fire.

County Engine, Tanker, and Rapid were dispatched. Due to the suspicious nature of the call, County #9-1 and the RCMP were notified.

“This fire call came in on Friday, August 20 at 8:51 p.m.,” County Fire Chief Kirk Hughes said. “The call originated south of 897 and Range Road 490.”

The fire was suspicious and the County dispatched a Fire Investigator to assist in the cause determination, Chief Kirk Hughes added.

There was no spread and no other structures involved. The oil company has been notified.

“The fire is suspicious and the matter has been turned over to the RCMP for investigation,” Chief Hughes said.
