U13 AA Braves win Provincial Gold

There’s Joy in Mudville.

The U13 AA Bonnyville Braves prayed for rain all summer long and the only day that their prayers were answered, they wished it would have stayed away. That was on this past Sunday when the Braves baseball team would host Tier #4 Provincial finals. Not wind, cold, pouring rain nor mud would stop these player from winning the gold medal on this day.

It wasn’t too bad for the semi final game that started at noon against the Calgary Cards. Drizzling rain but still not terrible for playing. The teams could at least make some plays. The Braves coming out on top of this one, 13-6 sending them to the gold medal game at 4pm against the High Prairie Sauce.

Usually nerves would get to you in the final game and you expect some bobbles from even your best players. The players were shivering on both teams, but not because they were nervous. It was very tough to make any kind of play in this one. Too late to postpone until tomorrow when the forecast was more rain the game continued.

Both teams players drenched and freezing by the time it was over three and half hours later. The Braves defeating the Sauce, 23-12 to win the Provincial banner.

Great job by everyone involved; including the coaching staff, grounds crew, men in blue and the officials score keeping and pitch counting and to everyone else who came out to cheer on their teams.
