Town of Bonnyville invites you to Métis Flag raising ceremony

The Town of Bonnyville would like to invite you to a upcoming Métis Flag Raising Ceremony and Barbeque.

The ceremony will be held on on Thursday, September 2, beginning at I I :00 a.m. at the Town of Bonnyville Administration Office, located at 4917 49 Avenue in Bonnyville.

Gene Sobolewski is the Mayor of the Town of Bonnyville.

“Historically, the Metis Communities have been an important part of our community,” Mayor Sobolewski said. “We would be honoured if you could join us for this celebration. In recognition of our long and proud relationships with our Indigenous neighbours, the Town of Bonnyville also intends to permanently fly the Métis flag in our council chambers to continuously serve as a reminder to us of our respect toward Métis, and all Indigenous people, who lived on these lands prior to the formation of the Town.”

The event is open to the public and all are welcome, Mayor Sobolewski says.

“We look forward to having you celebrate this special event with us,” Mayor Sobolewski said.
