St Paul RCMP Traffic Services Pursuit results in arrests and drug seizure

On July 29, 2021, at approximately 4:45 p.m., St Paul RCMP Traffic Services located a vehicle which was believed to be associated to a male, breaching conditions of release for significant charges and intimidation of witnesses.

The officer attempted a vehicle stop at which time the vehicle fled. A pursuit was initiated and additional officers requested from St. Paul and Smokey Lake Detachments. The pursuit ended when the suspect driver and passenger fled on foot after abandoning the vehicle in a field. A foot pursuit ensued resulting in the successful arrest of both occupants. St Paul Police Dog Service attended and assisted in conducting an article search for any items that the suspects may have discarded.

The vehicle was searched and drugs and weapons were seized.

  • Brass knuckles (Prohibited weapon)
  • Shotgun shells
  • Machette
  • 2 drug scales
  • 5 grams of suspected methamphetamine
  • 6 grams of suspected cocaine
  • 6 grams of suspected heroin
  • 2 grams of Psilocybin ( magic mushrooms)

As a result of the initial investigation, a further search of a residence was conducted in which a prohibited weapon was located and seized the weapon was a sawed off Ruger 10/22, (.22 caliber).

Oliver Memnook, age 35 of Ashmont Alberta, was charged with 12 drug and weapons related offences along with 4 Traffic Safety Act offences. He also had outstanding warrants out of St Paul RCMP for Breach of a release order and Failing to comply with a probation order.

Memnook was taken before a justice and held in custody with his next court appearance set for August 3, 2021 in Bonnyville.
