U-15 Bonnyville Braves in a good position heading into July
The Bantam Bonnyville Braves were in Millwoods two weekends ago, to face their toughest opponent yet – the blistering sun. Looking for a win against St Paul after losing to them a week prior, Josh Bourbeau took the mound and pitched a lights out game backed by some amazing defensive plays by Riley Feland including a diving catch in the field. Bonnyville was able to even the score with a win of 13-1.
Next the Braves faced the Edmonton Angels with their bats blazing and mound appearances by Riley Feland, Cale Rupp, Brady Cooper and Kaelem Straughan. The Braves took a huge lead in the first inning with Edmonton struggling with their defence. Braves took the win in 5 innings.
On Sunday the Braves took the field against Kitscoty with Carter “Gronk” Goreniuk shining on the mound and Riley Feland coming in to close. The Braves played an all around great game with some good pitching, hitting and defence including a beautiful double play by Josh Bourbeau. Foster Pikowicz stole home on a pass ball to seal the game after 5 innings with a score of 17-7 for the Braves.
The Braves now wait for Baseball Alberta to process the results from the first 2 weekends of play to find out what Division they fall into. This likely means some more competitive games ahead and probably some travel a little farther from home but for now the boys can enjoy a little break to enjoy the sun.
