Last week in the City of Cold Lake participated in the National Public Works Week food drive and collected an astounding amount of food for the Cold Lake Food Bank.
Denis Pollard is the Intermediate Secretary of Infrastructure Services for the City of Cold Lake and helped with the food drive.
“Seventeen Public Works staff participated in the food drive to help make sure that we are there for our neighbours now and when the pandemic is over,” Pollard told Lakeland Connect. “We collected 1187 pounds of non-perishable food and $2180.45 in cash donations.”
Pollard says on behalf of Public Works, she would like to thank everyone who stopped by Sobeys and No Frills to donate on Friday, May 21.
The 1187 pounds of food donated was valued at approximately $3100 and will provide a great boost to the shelves at the Cold Lake Food Bank.
“Providing food to those in need can be difficult at the best of times,” Pollard said. “With Covid-19, that task has gotten a whole lot harder as food banks are faced with unprecedented need and shortages.”
