Cold Lake Marina opens tomorrow

The ice is off Cold Lake and the Summer boating fun is about to begin as the Marina opens to boaters this weekend.

On Saturday, May 15, slip holders can put their boats in the water starting at 8 a.m. The new storage lockers for kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards are also open for renters with a signed and paid contract.

“We’ve got over 250 boats that call the Marina home,” the Mayor of Cold Lake told Lakeland Connect. “We have a massive waiting list to get into the Marina, but we have a long-term plan to expand it someday.”

Mayor Copeland says with the ice off the lake there’s a lot of people itching to get on the water. However, water levels are a little low for this time of year, therefore the Mayor is asking boaters to take extra care when launching watercraft.

“We’ve got a bit of an issue this year the lake is down quite a bit,” Mayor Copeland said. “And so when people are launching their boat they’re gonna really want to pay attention. We did dredge out that part of the Marina, but still, people have to watch their equipment.”

Hours of operation for the Marina this summer are:

• May 15-May 31, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.
• June-August, 8 a.m. – 10 p.m.
• September-Closing, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.
