Bonnyville RCMP investigate stabbing and charge male
The Mounties in Bonnyville have arrested one person for allegedly stabbing another.
On Wednesday, April 28, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Bonnyville RCMP were called to a residence in downtown Bonnyville for a male who was stabbed multiple times and required assistance.
The 27-year-old male was rushed to hospital for his injuries where he remains in hospital with serious injuries.
Further investigation led police to search a residence for a suspect who was located and arrested.

For public safety, a portion of the roadway was closed off on 54th Street for approximately one hour while police conducted their investigation. The Mounties say there is no further concern for public safety, and normal traffic operations resumed quickly after the suspect was arrested.
Leonard Floyd Cardinal, 51, of Bonnyville is charged for:
- Aggravated assault.
Following a judicial hearing, Cardinal was released with conditions to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on May 18, 2021.
As this matter is now before the courts, no further information can be provided.
