Centrefield Music Festival postponed to 2022

St. Paul’s annual Centrefield Music Festival is on hold for another year thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a release April 15, organizer Keynon Ternovoy said that because of the current health restrictions and crowd-gathering protocols in place in Alberta, the fifth anniversary of the festival would need to wait until 2022.

“As difficult as this decision may be, it is the safest path forward to ensure the safety of our guests, our artists, and our staff – which has been and remains our number one priority,” said Ternovoy.

He also cited the lack of a timeline from the provincial government as to when restrictions might be eased. Alberta Premier Jason Kenney announced a rollback to phase 1 of the re-opening plan on April 6.

“We are all continuing to face an unfortunate reality but support this direction and look forward to a full-on Festival in 2022,” said St. Paul Mayor Maureen Miller.

The festival is now scheduled for June 17-18, 2022. Previously purchased tickets will be honoured for the new dates. Refunds must be requested by April 30, 2021 by emailing info@centrefieldmusicfestival.com.

In previous years Centrefield Music Festival has hosted big Canadian country names like Brett Kissel and Terri Clark. Although the lineup for 2022 may see some changes, Kissel is expected to be back to headline the Saturday evening performance.

Also in the line up are The Reklaws, JoJo Mason, The Prairie States, The Wilkinsons, and Petric with some special guests yet to be announced.

The annual event takes place in St. Paul Jaycee Ballpark over two days. Patrons bring their own lawn chairs while vendors on site provide food, drink, and merchandise.
