Bonnyville RCMP charge male after search through town on Thursday
One person faces charges after RCMP responded to a report of a male breaching a court order on Thursday.
At around 2:20pm, Bonnyville RCMP attended a location near 66 Street in Bonnyville to locate the male.
When police arrived the male fled in a vehicle, ramming a police vehicle and nearly hitting two officers, RCMP said.
Multiple RCMP detachments and specialized units combined efforts to “systematically” search for and locate the male, RCMP said, including sending out a media about the search.
The suspect was found at an apartment building on the west side of Bonnyville.
Members of the Bonnyville RCMP, Bonnyville General Investigation Section, Eastern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, Elk Point RCMP and two Police Dog Units tactically contained the building and the male was located and arrested.
Corbin Joshua Poitras, 33, of Elk Point, has been charged with
- Assault on a police officer with a weapon
- Flight from peace officer
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Resist a police officer
- Being unlawfully in a dwelling house
Poitras has been remanded into custody following a judicial hearing and is scheduled to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on Monday, Feb. 1.
