RCMP investigate horse shooting north of Vermilion

Vermilion RCMP are currently investigating the shooting death of a horse that occurred sometime between Nov. 23, 2020 and Nov. 27, 2020.

On Nov. 30, Vermillion RMCP members responded to a property north of Highway 45 near Clandonald, 15 minutes north of Vermilion, for an animal call.

Police located a deceased horse and determined it had been shot using a firearm, RCMP said in a release on Monday. The owners advised there is an additional sorrel Belgian horse that is believed to have escaped through an open gate and is still missing.

Hunters have been known to use this property and may have mistaken the horse for another animal, police said.
