Santa’s Elves receive $750 from town
Santa’s Elves will be getting a 0 donation from the Town of St. Paul following the Dec. 14 council meeting.
According to information presented to town council, the group is unable to run their annual gift collection and giving event in the traditional way. Normally, the group works with the Knights of Columbus to provide presents for children whose families are receiving Christmas food hampers.
Because of COVID-19, the Town, County, and Elk Point FCSS have taken over the Christmas hamper program for 2020.
“Knowing it’s a one-off situation, we hopefully can support this through the community in the following years,” said Mayor Maureen Miller, who noted the town has supported them with space to wrap the gifts in previous years.
A motion to approve the $750 request was made by Coun. Nathan Taylor and carried.
