Frog Lake re-enters lockdown after three positive COVID cases

Frog Lake First Nation has put in place lockdown procedures after being notified of three positive COVID cases on reserve on Thursday.

As of 3:00pm on Thursday, December 3, the Director of Emergency Management, along with Chief and Council began the process of returning to a lockdown for at least 14 days or, “until such a time as it hs been determined safe to lift and this will be decided by the advice of our Local Health Centre and only after the contact tracing process has been completed and these positive cases have been cleared negative,” the Nation said in a public release.

Frog Lake ended a lockdown on Nov. 20.

All confirmed cases are at home with their families in self-isolation, the release said.

Residents are advised to stay at home and only travel for essential purposes. For those who work off-reserve, only travel to and from work and only conduct essential business if need be, the release said.

The Health Centre has begun contact tracing steps to have the cases self-isolate along with the family members at homes and are continuing the contact tracing procedures.

Those passing through Frog Lake on Highway 897 will be permitted, but all visitors will not be permitted into the Nation.

Frog Lake’s “local geographic area” on the province’s virus data map, which includes the southern part of the M.D. of Bonnyville and west of St. Paul County, has 13 active cases with 12 recoveries as of Friday morning.
