Ten new COVID cases in Cold Lake, eight in St. Paul-Saddle Lake area on Wednesday

A day after new health restrictions were put in provincewide, the Lakeland area continues to see COVID cases increase.

Ten new cases were reported on the AHS COVID data map under “local geographic area” in the Cold Lake area on Wednesday, leaving now 62 active cases and 41 recovered.

In the St. Paul-Saddle Lake area, eight new cases were reported, so in the region there is 94 active and 147 recovered. Saddle Lake News, Events, and Information page said there are 29 active cases and 139 recovered as of Tuesday.

Three new cases on the map in the Bonnyville area. There is 28 active cases and 50 recovered, while Kehewin Communications said in their last update Tuesday there is 16 active and 26 recovered on the First Nation.

Five new infections are in the Lac La Biche area on Wednesday. That’s 29 active and 17 recovered for that County area.

One new case in the Smoky Lake area, but active cases dropped to 12 with 23 recovered.

In the Frog Lake area there is 6 active cases and 8 recovered.

Four active cases, 22 recovered, in Two Hills County area, with three active cases in the Vermilion River County area.

In Alberta on Wednesday, chief medical officer Dr. Deena Hinshaw reported 1,265 new cases after roughly 15,700 tests.

She said there is 355 Albertans in hospital due to the virus and 71 of those in intensive care.

Over 500 deaths now have been reported related to COVID in the province.
