Lac La Biche RCMP searching for armed and dangerous suspect

Lac La Biche RCMP and RCMP helicopters are searching for an armed and dangerous suspect on Wednesday morning.

Along with the RCMP Emergency Response Team, police are currently on scene searching for a wanted male near Range Road 162 and Township Road 670 south of Plamondon in a rural area.

Police are looking for the male who fled into a wooded area after a pursuit with police late Tuesday night. The male is considered as armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

Residents have been evacuated as a precaution by police while a search of the immediate wooded area is being conducted.

Darren Larose (35) of Caslan, Alta., is described as:

  • Indigenous
  • 5’11, approximately 200 lbs
  • Black braided hair and brown eyes
  • Tattoo under right eye
  • Wearing dark pants and a sweater

Citizens are asked to avoid the area and contact Lac La Biche RCMP at 780-404-2500 if they see anything suspicious or anyone hitch hiking in the area near Highway 55.

The RCMP will provide an update as more information becomes available. We ask that no police activities be posted on social media as a matter of police safety.

Tuesday night release

A suspect is at large between Plamandon and Lac La Biche on Highway 55 and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Alberta RCMP put out a message Tuesday night that said there is no description of the suspect.
