Developing skills at combo dance class
Five and six year old dancers were poised as they practiced tap, jazz, and ballet skills yesterday in Vermilion at Dance Impressions by Ryan.
Class alterations this year include taped floor squares to maintain social distancing while staying active.
“Being able to do group activities safely is so important,” said owner Ryan Wilson.
“With cold weather coming people are nervous about being isolated.”
She said if students this young were able to find a way to do things differently, that anybody can. She encouraged people to consider new activities not just for their physical health, but as a way to boost their mental health throughout the winter.
Class participants showcased different steps they had learned, along with various stretching techniques. Children enjoyed the music and movement, pointing their toes and all of the fancy steps, and Wilson was proud of their vast improvement.
“It’s bigger than just one class or activity. For people searching for something to do, there are organizations and businesses that have been creative in changing the way they do things in order to keep the community going,” said Wilson.
Dance Impressions has opted to keep registration open this year. To find out what all is available or sign up for a class you can call 780-853-6390.
