Vehicle owner bear sprayed

A resident of the 51 St and 52 Ave area of St. Paul was attacked with bear spray early in the morning on Oct. 2.

According to St. Paul RCMP, the resident woke up to the sounds of someone trying to steal their vehicle and went outside where they confronted the suspects. There was an altercation during which the windows of the suspect’s truck were smashed and someone sprayed bear spray at the resident and their family members.

“We asked the public not to confront persons involved in a criminal act and to contact police immediately,” says Sgt. David Graham of the St. Paul RCMP. ” The element of risk is unknown and it could potentially put you in a dangerous or life threatening situation.”

According to the release, the suspect vehicle is a “loud black truck” with “the two side passenger windows smashed out.” It was being driven by a man wearing a red sweater.

If you saw the truck early in the morning on Oct. 2 or have any information about the incident, St. Paul RCMP are asking you to call the detachment at 780-645-8870, or if you want to remain anonymous contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-5477 (TIPS), online, or by using the “P3 Tips” app on your smart phone.
