Bonnyville RCMP arrest man after aggravated assault at convenience store

RCMP have charged a Bonnyville man with aggravated assault after an incident that caused serious injuries.

At approximately 3:30am on Saturday, Bonnyville RCMP responded to a “serious assault” that occurred outside of a convenience store in town.

Police said due to the seriousness of investigation, Bonnyville General Investigation Section (GIS) was called in to assist.

The victim received emergency medical assistance, and a suspect was arrested without incident shortly thereafter.

The victim is currently in serious, but stable condition and is recovering in hospital.

Randy Cardinal, 33, of Bonnyville is charged with one count of aggravated assault.

Cardinal has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on Tuesday, October 6.
