Man facing assault with weapon charge after victim suffers serious injuries
A Cold Lake man has been charged with assault with a weapon after a shooting on Elizabeth Metis Settlement last week.
Cold Lake RCMP responded late last Monday afternoon to a shooting on the Settlement, where an adult male had to be airlifted via STARS air ambulance.
The victim was shot three times and suffered serious life-threatening injuries, RCMP said on Tuesday.
Cold Lake, Bonnyville, and Eastern Alberta District GIS units and the Lakeland Crime Reduction Unit arrested the man without incident.
Dwayne Jacknife, 50-year-old from Cold Lake was charged with assault with a weapon and discharging a firearm with intent.
He was remanded into custody after a judicial hearing but has since been released. His next scheduled appearance is in Cold Lake Provincial Court on Sept. 23.
