Fishing Lake man pleads guilty to manslaughter

A man from Fishing Lake has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after killing the mother of his child.

Thirty-year-old Marc Jess pled guilty to manslaughter on Tuesday in the death of 25-year-old Paige Crevier on Fishing Lake Metis Settlement in May 2018.

Jess originally was charged with first-degree murder.

With time served in pre-trial custody, Jess has just under 16 years in prison to serve, and will not be eligible for parole until halfway through the remainder of his sentence.
