Impaired driving cause of death in collision north of Plamandon

Charges have been laid against a Plamandon man after a two-vehicle collision led to a death.

At roughly 4:30 Tuesday morning,  Lac La Biche RCMP responded to a report of a two vehicle collision on Birch Grove Road north of Plamondon, Alta.

The RCMP’s said their preliminary investigation revealed a head on collision occurred with two SUV’s on Birch Grove Road.

A 54-year-old male driver of one of the SUV’s from Plamondon was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The male driver of the other SUV, 48-year-old Ignaty Scherbakov of Plamondon, was arrested and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death.

He was released after a judicial hearing and will be appearing in Lac La Biche Provincial Court on Aug. 31, 2020.

Lac La Biche RCMP along with a RCMP Collision Analyst continue to investigate.
