Cold Lake Meals on Wheels cuts price by half

The Cold Lake Meals on Wheels program is offering a 50-per-cent discount to help its clients through challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Until the end of 2020, the cost of meals will be $5 for a full-course hot meal, and $4 for a frozen meal. The Meals on Wheels Program is available to anyone 65 and over, and any adult who has difficulty preparing meals due to an illness or injury.

Meals can be delivered Monday through Friday, with meals for the weekend delivered frozen on Fridays. Deliveries are made within the City of Cold Lake and parts of Wards 5 and 6 in the Municipal District of Bonnyville, which includes communities such as Cherry Grove, and sections of Ward 5 that are north of highway 28 and east of Ardmore.

Communities such as Fort Kent won’t be serviced as they reach beyond the program’s serviceable areas.

The program is a partnership between Cold Lake and District FCSS and Age Friendly Cold Lake. It is made possible in part through grants from the Government of Alberta.
