A 24-year-old woman has been charged after driving a stolen vehicle into Racette School overnight.

On Tuesday night shortly after 11:30pm, St. Paul RCMP responded to a robbery complaint where the suspect, who had received a ride from the victim, assaulted the driver and threatened the three passengers in the vehicle with a gun if they did not get out.

The three occupants were able to escape from the vehicle and call police.

Shortly after midnight, the stolen vehicle was seen at the Galaxy Motel in St. Paul before fleeing on 50th Avenue.

RCMP members began pursuing the vehicle, which ended up going off the road hitting Racette Junior High School and causing extensive damage.

The suspect was arrested without further incident.

Jordana Crane (24) of St. Paul, Alta. was charged with the following;

  • Robbery
  • Assault
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Fligh from a Peace Officer
  • Fail to Comply (X2)
  • Uttering Threats

Crane was taken before a Justice of the Peace for a bail hearing and was remanded into custody to appear on July 9 in St. Paul Provincial Court.

“This must have been a very scary situation for the victims involved.  We are glad they were able to escape without any significant physical injuries,” said Sgt. David Graham, St. Paul RCMP.

“We are also grateful that nobody was injured when the suspect fled from us and hit the school.   There’s always an element of risk in these situations and although there is some property damage we are lucky that nobody was seriously injured.”
