V&H Drive-In fire deliberate, possible link to fire Tuesday
Lac La Biche RCMP continue to investigate if there’s a connection between the fire at V&H Drive-In and another building fire that happened closeby within 32 hours of each other.
Just after 1:00am on Monday morning, the fire began at the V&H Drive-In.
The damage to the beloved local restaurant is significant.
The back half of the building is completely destroyed by the flames, and the interior is not salvageable.
The fire is believed to have been deliberate.
On Tuesday morning, another fire was started to a structure in the back alley at 101 Ave and 102 St.
A 24-year-old woman is a suspect currently in custody and RCMP are investigating potential links potential the V&H fire, but currently her involvement is unknown at this time.
“I don’t have many details about her, but with having two fires this close together, we definitely have to consider all options,” said S/Sgt. Jerry Nutbrown, Lac La Biche RCMP.
“Our investigation is nowhere near the end. We won’t leave any stone unturned.”
If anyone knows any helpful information regarding the fires or those involved, they are asked to call the Lac La Biche RCMP at 780-404-2500.
If a residents has information but wishes to remain anonymous, they can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
