Message from the St. Paul Regional Director of Emergency Management
Special message from Regional Director of Emergency Management, Trevor Kotowich:
I hope this message continues to find everyone safe and healthy. As most of you are already aware, the Region of St. Paul has seen 3 individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19. I am happy to report that 1 of those cases have since recovered. I know that many of you would like to know more about these positive cases, but AHS has strict guidelines:
We’ve been told there a case in X? Is this accurate? Can you confirm?
- We cannot provide information regarding specific cases due to patient confidentiality. We take patient confidentiality seriously and are taking steps to balance confidentiality with the public interest. We cannot comment on any specific case due to patient confidentiality.
- In cases like this, as soon as a test is positive, local health officials take immediate action to protect the health of everyone involved and prevent the virus from spreading. They immediately isolate the individual and begin contact tracing to determine anyone who may have been exposed to the virus.
Our Incident Management Team, along with our Region’s CAO’s continue to monitor and follow the lead of the Provincial Government and AHS. I can’t stress enough that we need to continue to be cautious, maintain social-distancing, stay home when feeling unwell and continue to practice proper hand hygiene.
With the Provincial Government announcing their Relaunch Strategy, the County of St. Paul, along with the Towns of Elk Point and St. Paul, and Summer Village of Horseshoe Bay will make determinations as to how best we begin relaxing some of the restrictions of our facilities. Our Administration Offices will continue to remain closed, but I am pleased to announce the Golf Course in Elk Point opened on May 4th, and the Town of St. Paul will open theirs on May 9th., following AHS guidelines and protocols.
