On March 8, 2020, police from Pierceland RCMP were called to a residence in Pierceland after the homeowner reported that three unknown males had entered the residence with a firearm.

There were two individuals present in the home at the time. One adult male suffered a gunshot wound to the lower body. The wound was reported to be non-life threatening.

The three unknown males fled the residence on foot. After a thorough investigation, three individuals were identified and later arrested in Cold Lake. Two adult males and one youth are charged with Aggravated Assault, Sec. 268(2) of the C.C and Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Sec. 244.2(3) of the C.C.

18-year-old Samuel Jay Kiseyinewakup, 28-year-old Owen Albert Kytwayhat, and a youth had a court appearance on March 12th in Meadow Lake Provincial court.
