Grande Parlour announcing future this weekend
The future of a major cog in performance arts in the Lakeland will have more clarity.
The Grande Parlour is hosting a press conference on Sunday at 2:00pm to discuss the future of the theatre.
In October, Craig Konechny, president of the Cold Lake Entertainment Society announced the theatre would be closing in January saying there was unsustainable funding to continue.
“We will be presenting on the future of the arts in our community and the path, as we see it, moving forward in relation to our existence and The Grande Parlour theatre space,” said Konechny in the press release.
The press conference will be held at the theatre site.
Supporters of the arts in Cold Lake came to city council in October following the announcement of the Grande Parlour closing to see if council knew what was happening or if they could help.
Mayor Craig Copeland said following the meeting that council would first need to see a business plan from the society before agreeing to fund it or building a new theatre, but added that funding a society would be out of the ordinary.
The theatre operated for three years.
