Pontiacs forward Lucas Thorne commits to Holy Cross Crusaders
Lucas Thorne has caught the eye of the Holy Cross Crusaders.
The Bonnyville Pontiacs leading scorer this season officially committed to the NCAA school on Saturday before the team played the Sherwood Park Crusaders.
Thorne is set to join former Pontiacs Grayson Constable and Bobby Young and is the 70th college-committed player from the organization.
The 1999 born player from Dunnville, Ontario has already smashed career highs set last season, with 20 goals and 36 assists through 34 games in 2019-20.
He has taken leaps this season playing alongside Matt McKim, 9th in AJHL scoring, and Daine Dubois, players who are also garnering collegiate attention.
Thorne is 7th in AJHL scoring and had three points in Friday’s win over the Lloydminster Bobcats 7-2.
The Pontiacs lost to the division-leading Sherwood Park Crusaders 6-3, despite trailing by one goal midway through the third period.
Bonnyville will hit pause on the season for the Christmas break and resume Monday, December 30 against the Lloydminster Bobcats on the road.
