Drivers rolling through Main Street in Bonnyville on Saturday had to with a checkstop from the Mounties.

This one was all in gracious spirit, however, as emergency services partners from Bonnyville RCMP, EMS and the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority asked for food, toy or cash donations to help those in Victim Services.

The Charity Checkstop raised $4684.45.

“The Bonnyville Victim Services Unit wants to thank all emergency services personnel that helped to make the checkstop a success. Their participation was greatly appreciated,” said S/Sgt. Sarah Parke.

It’s the second initiative in as many weeks from emergency services as Pack the Police Car raised money for the hungry the weekend previous.
