Lac La Biche RCMP arrest 3 wanted individuals

On Dec. 5, 2019 the Lac La Biche Crime Reduction Unit in partnership with the Lac La Biche RCMP Detachment, RCMP Eastern Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit, RCMP Air Services, St. Paul and Cold Lake RCMP Dog Service Units and the RCMP Emergency Response Team, arrested one male and two females on numerous charges.
During a planned and coordinated operation, the three accused were located in a stolen vehicle. When attempts were made to pull them over, they failed to stop for police and a lengthy pursuit resulted. The three accused drove through a closed gate, down cut-lines and at high speeds in an attempt to evade capture. As the three suspects continued to refuse to stop, the vehicle they were driving was safely immobilized and all three arrested.
Justice Mountain (24), of Lac La Biche, Alta. was charged with:
  • Possession of property over $5000
  • Dangerous driving
  • Fail to stop while being pursued
  • Break and enter
  • Mischief (2 counts)
  • Numerous Provincial driving offenses
Mountain also had 7 outstanding warrants for arrest out of Lac La Biche, which included the following charges:
  • Arson
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public
  • Possession of property over $5000
Mountain was also wanted on 5 outstanding warrants for arrest from the Edmonton Police Service.
Symone Steinhauer (23), of Saddle Lake, Alta. was charged with:
  • Dangerous driving
  • Fail to stop while being pursued
  • Break & enter
  • Mischief (2 counts)
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order (2 counts)
Steinhauer was also wanted  for an outstanding warrant of arrest from the Edmonton Police Service.
Nicole Makokis (31), of Saddle Lake, Alta., was charged with:
  • Fail to stop while being pursued
  • Mischief
  • Fail to comply with a Recognizance
Makokis was also wanted on an outstanding warrant of arrest from St Paul.
The accused were brought before a Justice of Peace in a Judicial Interim Release Hearing which resulted in all three being held in custody.
Their next court appearances are all scheduled for Dec. 9, 2019 at the Lac La Biche Provincial Court.
