Micro-Novice Avalanche

It should be early to bed, early to rise for the Avalanche Micro Novice team. They play Saturday mornings at 8:30 am. But, some of them seemed a little sluggish this past Saturday and I wonder why? Maybe they were in town to watch the parade and then the Elks Senior team game in which they won in overtime against Dewberry. The game ended about 10:30 pm. One of them did for sure. The Elks flag bearers on Friday night were the Malo brothers. Novice player Ryder the ‘Rhino’ and his younger brother Jase ‘the Jackal’ Malo who plays with the Micro Novice. But the lack of sleep didn’t seem to effect the Jackal at all. He scored two goals on Saturday morning against the Frog Lake T Birds.
The Jackal is one of the  more aggressive players in the pack and hunts down the puck. Tor the ‘Tornado’ Aarbo and Grayson ‘Bang Bang’ Koppang also scored goals on Saturday morning. Little four year old Landon ‘Lights Out’ St. Arnault scored into an empty net while the teams were on the three minute line change. Technically it didn’t count. But some would argue that none of the goals in Micro-Novice count. As I found out!!
The assists coming from ‘Mount Everett’ Hahn, Aspyn Kelly and Thomas Morris. The Avalanche were missing a few players that morning so everyone had plenty of ice time. Jaydn the’Shark’ Sakowski wanted the best of both worlds. He wants to play in net as a goaltender every shift. But when he stops the puck he just takes off with it up the ice trying to score a goal leaving the net empty.

Novice Avalanche

The Novice Avalanche players had and extra hour and half sleep. Their game at home was against the Vermilion Tigers on Saturday  Theo ‘Long Horn’ Loughran told his mom Tellia he would like to be a goalie and suited up for the Avalanche. He may have second thoughts after this one! I don’t remember anyone ever getting  this many shots on them. Sounds far fetched but as a witness I can contest it is a fact. He faced 99 shots on goal and made some really big saves. Although the Tigers would win by a huge margin his goals against average wasn’t that bad at all.
Jaxon ‘Magic’ Marcoux pulled a few tricks out of his bag with four goals. Jesse James Penner firing his six shooter with a goal and an assist . William ‘Billy Bob’ Ballas with a goal and added two assists. Hayden Badger, Hudson ‘Hammer’ Krankowski and Luke Osinchuk all tall on the blueline stopping the Tigers attack.  Lennox ‘All Out’ St. Arnault, Ava Rawlake and Avree Lesyk doing a terrific job of forechecking.

Atom Avalanche

The Atom Avalanche played two very close games on the weekend losing a close one Saturday 5-2 against Lloydminster and won a real barn burner on Sunday 2-1 against Consort. Kale the ‘Hawk’ Ockerman and ‘Without a Trace ‘ Morgan with one goal and one assist each on Saturday. ‘Notorious Nolan’ Ballas with two assists.
On Sunday the ‘Hawk’ and Jaxon ‘Smitty’ Smith with the goals, ‘Notorious Nolan’ and Braylee ‘Wee Willy’ Lesyk with the assists.  This coming weekend the Atoms will be hosting a six team tournament with teams coming from Pierceland, Marwayne, Edmonton, Lac La Biche, and Lloydminster. The first game for the Avalanche will be 8:30 am Saturday morning against Edmonton. Then again at 4:30 pm against Lloydminster. Sunday starting at 9:00 am will be the A, B and C finals.

Peewee Avalanche

Late Sunday afternoon the Peewee Avalanche headed 20 minutes north east to St Paul to battle the arch rival Canadiens, coming home  later that evening with a four all tie. The entire game was back and forth. The lead changing three times and finally ending in a tie.  ‘The Pinball Wizard’ Brayden Pinette bouncing around with a goal and an assist. Rushing defenseman Gavin ‘ Giver’ Kadutski with a goal. If this keeps up I might have to start calling him ‘Greenlight’ Madden ‘ Mad Dog’ Flamand with a goal . Coming from behind with a little over two minutes remaining, Kaysen ‘Dynamite’ DeMossiac tying it up.  ‘Top Gunner’ Crawford with an assist.

Bantam Avalanche

Rolling, rolling, rolling!! Not much can stop a Avalanche when it gets momentum from burying teams six feet under. The Bantam Avalanche rolled over another two teams this past weekend. On Saturday the defeated Bonnyville 10-0 on the road and then defeated Consort Sunday 9-0 at home. Shut out number three and four on the season for goalie Vanden ‘Super Mario’ Moroziuk. ‘Mick Jagger’ Fontaine with three goals and three assists on Saturday. A hat trick for his younger brother ‘Kid Kade’. Two goals and one assist for Dean ‘the Machine’ Ockerman. Cea Jay ‘Quick Draw’ Quinney with a goal and an assist. ‘Saint Nic’ Penner with a goal. Brady the ‘ Bionic Man’ Hymanyk with an assist .
On Sunday they were at it again . Three goals and three assists for Mickey. Two goals and two assists for Sam ‘Spiderman ‘ Rogal. Two goals and one assist for the Kid.  Seth ‘Motorman’ Morton with a goal and two assists. Ryan ‘Ram Rod’ Cameron with a goal. ‘Quick Draw’ Quinney, Wyatt ‘Wild Man’ Pavoll and Josef ‘the Red’ Theriault each on the sheet with a helper.
