Cold Lake female arrested in August drive-by shooting case
After a lengthy investigation Cold Lake RCMP General Investigations Section (GIS) with the assistance of K Division General Investigation Section – Edmonton have laid charges in relation to one of the firearms incidents on August 25, 2019 which occurred at a rural residence in the MD of Bonnyville.
Angel Blackman (28) of Cold Lake has been charged with 14 offences, some of which include:
- Aggravated assault
- Assault causing bodily harm
- Discharge firearm with intent to endanger life
- Assault with a weapon
- Pointing a firearm
- Carry a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
Blackman is currently in custody on unrelated charges and is scheduled to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on November 5, 2019. As this matter is now before the Court, no further updates will be provided.
BACKGROUND
On Saturday Aug. 25, 2019 at approximately 1:00 a.m., Cold Lake RCMP responded to an alleged drive-by shooting on Elizabeth Metis Settlement. It was reported that two shots were fired from a moving vehicle at a residence. One adult male victim who was at the residence sustained serious life threatening injuries and was transported to local hospital and later air lifted via STARS to Edmonton.
At approximately 2:00 a.m., on Aug. 25, 2019 Cold Lake RCMP responded a separate alleged shooting incident at a rural residence in the MD of Bonnyville where a male had injured. Further investigation revealed that an adult male suffered serious life threatening injuries and was brought to the hospital.
RCMP continue to investigate both shootings and believe these incidents were targeted and not random.
