There’s a new place to watch hockey games at the RJ Lalonde Arena.

Located at the west end of the arena, the VIP Lounge is geared like a sports lounge luxury suite.

The renovations began during the summer and includes four large open windows and an open concept design to watch the games, witha raised ceiling, new flooring and a drink rail.

The grand opening celebration happened on Saturday night before the Bonnyville Pontiacs hosted the Grande Prairie Storm.

Norm Vallee, president of Nova Mechanical and Construction said the company is working to be involved in the community as much as they can.

“We’re doing anything and everything to be part of the community and we’re more than happy to sponsor the bar. I think it looks great,” he said.

Hockey fans can also watch sports during the intermissions on the TVs in the lounge, or order food, drinks, and popcorn.

The VIP Lounge will also be available for renovations for private functions.

“It’s an amazing transition from what it was,” said Reeve Greg Sawchuk.

“Having these giant doors and being able to hear the game going on, it’s a nice space now and I think there’s plenty of opportunities there to rent it out for special parties as well and it’ll be great.”
