CNRL has released a statement regarding a large fire early Sunday morning at Canadian Natural’s Beartrap site near Bonnyville.

It is not known the extent of the fire from the authorities, but CNRL’s said the blaze was contained to an isolated camp, and no one was injured in the incident.

“Local fire departments responded and successfully extinguished the fire. All personnel are safe and accounted for with no reported injuries,” said Julie Woo, CNRL’s Manager, Public Affairs in an emailed statement.

“The incident was contained within an isolated process area, not impacting the operation of the main facility which has since resumed production. Regulatory agencies have been notified.”

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

A comment is expected shortly from the authorities.
